Gus was born at the British Gundogs/Blue Cypress Kennels and trained in Florida. He showed such promise that we took a chance and sent him to Europe to run in British Field Trials. In September 2017 Gus became an American born & trained British Field Trial Winner!!!!

Gus is compact with great muscle tone and a medium/long coat. Gus has shown his unfailing temperament and composure by training in America and then traveling to Ireland and Scotland at 20 months of age to compete. He received his Field Trial Win at the Gamekeepers National Association Field Trial in Scotland. If you are looking for your next Champion sporting dog look no further.
Gus’ accomplishments in his short competition career include:
- Won first place at the Gamekeepers National Association Field Trial, Scotland
- Gus ran as part of a three man team – the County Antrim team - at the British Association of Shooting and Conservation Gundog Northern Ireland Inter-Club Test. The team Gus was on won first place in the international competition and Gus was in a runoff for top individual dog in the whole competition (approximately 60 dogs).
- Placed second at the UK Kennel Club’s working test.
- Won first place and received the “President’s Perpetual Award” for best retriever in the working test at the Northern Ireland Gundog Club and Field Trial Society competition.
- Placed second at the Craigavon Gundog Club Field Trial
- Placed second at the Fermanagh Gundog Club Novice Stake
- Competed at the 2017 Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace (by invitation only)
- Placed third at the Working Retriever Club of Ireland Field Trial
- Placed third at the Northern Ireland Field & Show Society Test, Ballyduggan Estate, Northern Ireland
- Field & Stream Magazine named Gus as one of the “11 Legendary Hunting Dogs” along with Hall of Fame dogs like King Buck and Snakefoot
